Entrust partners with digital security solutions provider RNTrust

Entrust announced a new technology partnership with RNTrust, a provider of digital security solutions for the EMEA region. By combining Entrust’s nShield Edge HSMs with RNTrust’s ORCA PKI solution, the partnership will provide a secure, all-in-one solution for PKI deployment and offline root CA.

Specifically designed to serve the SMB (Small and Medium Enterprise) market, RNTrust ORCA, along with Entrust’s nShield Edge HSMs, will appeal to organizations in the Middle East that require high levels of security and data protection, but don’t have the expertise or the budget to execute a complex solution; providing enterprise data security for their PKI deployments.

In line with evolving regional regulations and compliance standards, the RNTrust ORCA is built on Federal Information Processing Standard Publication (FIPS) 140-2 and FIPS 140-3 HSM certification, with multi-person control or quorum-based authentication , often referred to as M-over-N protection. on organizations in the years to come.

“We believe that data protection is essential for all businesses, regardless of size or budget,” said Hamid Qureshi, regional sales manager, Middle East, Africa and South Asia, Entrust. “With new, more comprehensive data security legislation being passed in the Middle East region – notably here in the UAE with the new DIFC Data Protection Act, as well as the new Federal Data Protection Act UAE Data and Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM) Data Protection Regulations – businesses large and small should equip themselves to effectively protect and manage their data.

“PKI, Offline CA can be complicated and difficult to implement. Entrust has a long history of supporting governments, banks and other GCC institutions in protecting sensitive data. The main goal of our technology partnership with RNTrust was to make enterprise-level data protection more accessible also to SMEs in the private sector,” added Hamid.

RNTrust Orca is supported by an nShield Edge HSM, hardened Linux-based appliance, OpenSSL-based certification, and two hardware-encrypted USB keys to ensure simple key generation.

The solution is compact enough to be kept in a safe when not in use, ensuring the physical security of the system. Security World software, which is also the backbone of the nShield HSM line, enables easy connectivity, load balancing and clustering as usage grows.

“After extensive research into the HSM market, we discovered that Entrust’s nShield Edge HSM was going to be the perfect solution for us. The solution we created not only simplifies data protection processes, but also makes it more accessible to small and medium-sized businesses in the region,” said Olivier Ruff, CTO of RNTrust Group. “Businesses in the region can be confident that their data protection is up to scratch and can focus their efforts and budget on other areas of the large-scale enterprise.”
